“It is a nutritional strategy that carefully uses food in order to orchestrate a hormonal response that allows the body to work to the best of its ability. And it’s not just a “nutritional strategy”, but a successful new lifestyle. Without doubt, nutritional aspects play a fundamental role, and physical activity and mental relaxation are important as well”
Barry Sears, a biochemist and creator of the Zone Diet, started his scientific career as a researcher at the Boston University School of Medicine, followed by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
From the very start his interest was focused towards fats, which he did extensive research on. In particular, he expanded on research on certain natural fats, which allowed him to register numerous patents worldwide for anti-cancer drugs. Based on these studies on lipids and those of the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine in 1982, Bergstrom, Samuelsson and Vane, Barry Sears conducted research on a number of hormones and eicosanoids to find that their proper balance can be crucial for one’s health and well-being.
Currently, Barry Sears pursues his scientific research as the president of Zone Labs, a biotechnology company in Danvers, Massachusetts, and is the president of the non-profit organization “Inflammation Research Foundation” in Marblehead, Massachusetts.
