Over the past couple of years, teeth whitening is something that people have started to look for and trust more and more. With Ross Gellar in the hit TV show Friends having such a dramatic teeth whitening, it hit the limelight of popular culture but it started even before this. Since the 1980’s, it’s become increasingly popular and the methods used have improved drastically. Back in the day, the most popular method of teeth whitening was what we now think of as hair bleaching which was trays with peroxide in them, but now we can actually whiten teeth with the process of laser teeth whitening.

So what makes laser teeth whitening so good then? Well, for starters, it has the capability to be used for a number of different dental problems such as fighting tooth decay and gum disease as well as the obvious of giving you pearly white teeth, but one of the main reasons it’s so popular is the fact the it gives such exceptional outcomes with a minimal amount of time.

It works by utilising the different frequencies found within laser light to effectively bleach the outer layers of the tooth, giving them a stunning white appearance. To do this, a peroxide free whitening gel is applied to the surface of the teeth which activates when the laser light hits it, causing a reaction that whitens the teeth and can even have an effect on some older veneers and crowns when used correctly.

So with all this talk, what are the pro’s and cons of a laser teeth whitening service then?

The list of pro’s starts out strong with the visible effects of a laser teeth whitening procedure starting to show in just a few hours following your treatment, giving a solid backing to a treatment known as the quickest dental treatment ever. This speed in which you see a turnaround on your spend is the biggest benefit of all as your time is just as valuable as your money. Another huge pro is that we do not use any form of peroxide in our laser teeth whitening treatments which is a big thing as for decades, peroxides have been the best way to whiten teeth. Instead, we use a safe and gentle whitening gel that is 100% peroxide free to whiten patients teeth.

Now for the con’s, and really there’s only one that comes to mind for us. Some clients will feel a small amount of discomfort in their mouth after the procedure, as well as an increased level of sensitivity in their teeth although this will fade shortly after the procedure and you can return to your normal daily life.

Last but not least, what about the results… how will my teeth look after having a laser teeth whitening treatment done?

The results vary from person to person and nobodies teeth are the same as another persons, but by using laser teeth whitening we can lighten your teeth up to 14 shades, allowing you to choose from a more subtle white to give you a bit more confidence in your smile all the way through to having teeth that will catch the eye no matter where you are.
