Botox® Treatment

What is Botox®?

Botulinum Toxin (Botox®) is a natural protein which relaxes and softens lines and wrinkles, mainly in the upper third of the face.

Botox® is not reserved just to the treatment of lines and wrinkles but will also provide lift to, and improve the tonicity of the skin. Expert uses include lifting a down turned mouth, lifting the tip of the nose, reducing gummy smile and treating the neck and under eye area.

Botulinum toxin may also be used very effectively to reduce excessive sweating under the arms (hyperhidrosis).

Important Information

It is vital to know that Botox® is a prescription only medicine and as such, must only be administered by suitably qualified practitioners who can prove expertise in this field. Our nurses are extremely skilled and proficient Nurse Independent prescriber’s who have the legal authority to prescribe to you.

Botox lasts on average 3-4 months, although there is large variation from 2-6 months, depending on your metabolism and number of units injected. Results and longevity is usually dose dependent, ie. a higher dose will likely produce better results and lasts longer. In some patients, repeated treatments causes muscle atrophy, and also trains the treated muscles to be less active, meaning a longer duration of results, or a lower dose can be injected.

Side Effects

Some patients might experience a mild headache after Botox. In this case you may have Paracetamol. Avoid consuming Alcohol, taking Aspirins, Ibuprofen, Nurofen or any anti-inflammatory within the first 24 hour as it may increase bruising.
Applying lightweight cold compressions to the treated area for a few minutes after treatment can also accelerate the healing process of any red spots or bruises.
